Thinking of applying for an assistant conductor position. Read a lot lately about not having a life, especially early on working the extra board. My girlfriend and I aren't planning on kids, but she's afraid she'll only see me 4 times a month. I'm not shy about working long hours or an awkward schedule; I've spent most of my professional career in the service industry. The money and benefits are hard to ignore, but will we ever see each other? Anyone with first hand knowledge with a significant other?
