Today's only train was this westbound UP grain train, led by UP 6556

A trip by the BNSF Abilene Ks yard netted some local power, BNSF 1449 & BNSF 3031
Only one train again today, but it was a good one. Westbound UP windmill blade train SSTESW-27 nears the end of it's run on the BNSF's Strong City Sub, led by NS 9639,NS 9642 & UP 6589. Train would head east on the UP's "KP" line later in the day
Next were a pair of consecutive numbered UP flats, UP 52114 & 52113
Followed by SP flat 599312
Rounding out the train, was a pair of MP flats, 819673 & 819652

A trip past the BNSF Abilene Ks yard found the following units from a grain train being loaded here:
It appears that only one of the BNSF units (1759) is equipped with Positive Train Control (PTC). It will be interesting to see how long the two units remain coupled together as one power set.
Question: Does the PTC equipped diesel have to be the lead unit for the PTC to be operational? Is PTC still operational if the engineer is controlling the power set through a non PTC equipped unit, such as 1449.
